"You are embarked" – this statement from the Pensées (Thoughts) of Blaise Pascal is the motto of Silvia Costa's new project for the Vorarlberger Landestheater. We are embarked, we've gone on board for the voyage that's called life but inevitably leads to death. And death, Pascal says, can lead us either into the protective hands of God or into terrifying annihilation – or, again, into nothingness.
Silvia Costa will take the audience on a journey to the lake and into four big arts centres. It is an enquiry into life and death, and also into what may lie between – the uneasy passage from one shore to the other.
